Hugo Nielsen Institute

Born in 1942, I was diagnosed with diabetis type 2 in 1990. My diabetes career went off like so many others: initially a diet, later tablets and insulin.

I went dependent on insulin in 1996. An unwanted side effect of insulin is that it may cause a gain in weight. This also happened to me. Nine years later my scales showed 20 more kilos . … with the corresponding consequences: In 2005 I was hospitalized three times because of heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmia, arterial fibrillation and flutter).

In February 2006 I first came to parallel acupuncture with Hugo Nielsen. From then on I had two treatments a week. After a year the dose of my heart medicine could be reduced by a half. My skin changed. It became smoother, my ‘age spots’ gradually dissolving themselves into nothingness.

After the second year of treatment with Hugo Nielsen my cardiolog asked in a jokey fashion whether I merely came to enquire about ‘his state of health’. Apart from a beta-blocker, my medicine was continually reduced. Since the beginning of 2008 I have had only one treatment a week at the Hugo Nielsen Institute.

It was already by beginning of 2002 that my diabetolog stated with me a diabetes type 1, i.e. that my pancreas was no longer able to produce insulin of its own and that I would have to inject insulin for the rest of my life.

But during treatment with Hugo Nielsen I could also state an impact on my diabetes. First my blood sugar marks were stabilized with the exception of high morning marks (dawn- phenomenon). From the end of 2007 onwards, however, marks degenerated dramatically. I realized incredible and above all unexplainable fluctuations. On the order of my diabetolog I increased the amount of insulin but refused the use of an insulin pump which he had recommended.

By the end of June 2008 I presented myself at the St. Joseph-Stift in Bremen to obtain treatment as an out-patient and possibly clarify the cause of my problems with diabetes.

The diagnosis of their diabetolog – after taking into consideration all my marks – said: diabetic type 2 (not type 1!!). The dose of insulin being too high, I was presumably gliding from one state of low blood sugar into the next without noticing!

My pancreas appears to still produce insulin.

His recommendation: to reduce the dosage of insulin but to add a tablet of Metformin 500 in the mornings and evenings.
Within four months I was able to reduce insulin units of about 40 a day to the half. I am also glad about the side effect of a weight reduction of 6 kilos.

Now, after five months, I only need 10 units a day plus Janumet twice a day. My blood sugar marks keep on stabilizing themselves.

When I last saw the doctor he said: „You seem to be one of the few persons who succeed in getting rid of insulin.“ If I continue losing weight, there is a chance of my being able to renounce insulin for good. Treatment with tablets, however, may have to be continued.
I hope to be able to add the news of success to this in a few months.

A pleasing thing I will not deny you.

Over ten years ago I was diagnosed with an elevated intraocular pressure in my eyes and found I had a beta-blocker prescribed. I was told that I had to take these drops until my dying day.

For about three years, the six-monthly measurements resulted in always the same needs in the normal range values (Nielsen-treatment in the Institute since February 2006).
In January this year, my eyes doctor said that one should think about whether it could possibly be disposed of beta-blockers. Following an investigation in early August 2009, the drug was actually taking away.
Six weeks later, the examination showed that the intraocular pressure was still within the normal range. The next examination will take place in November. I hope that I get it confirmed the good results.

Bei mir (Jahrgang 1942) wurde 1990 ein Typ 2 Diabetes festgestellt. Meine Diabeteskarriere verlief wie bei vielen anderen Diabetikern, zunächst Diät, dann Tabletten und später Insulin.

Insulinpflichtig wurde ich 1996. Eine unerwünschte Nebenwirkung des Insulins kann eine Gewichtszunahme sein. So auch bei mir. Zwanzig Kilogramm brachte ich nach neun Jahren mehr auf die Waage, … mit entsprechenden Konsequenzen. 2005 kam ich insgesamt dreimal in die Klinik mit Herzrhythmusstörungen (Vorhofflimmern und –flattern).

Im Februar 2006 ging ich zum ersten Mal zur Parallelakupunktur bei Hugo Nielsen. Seitdem erfolgte zweimal wöchentlich die Behandlung. Nach einem Jahr konnte die Dosis meiner Herzmedikamente auf die Hälfte verringert werden. Meine Haut veränderte sich, sie wurde glatter und meine „Altersflecken“ haben sich irgendwann in Nichts aufgelöst.

Nach dem zweiten Jahr der Behandlung bei Hugo Nielsen scherzte mein Kardiologe, ich käme wohl nur, um mich nach „seinem Gesundheitszustand“ zu erkundigen. Die Medikamente wurden bis auf einen Betablocker weiter reduziert.

Die Behandlung im Nielsen-Institut erfolgt seit Anfang 2008 nur noch einmal die Woche.
Bereits Anfang 2002 diagnostizierte mein Diabetologe, dass ich Typ 1 Diabetiker sei, meine Bauchspeicheldrüse also kein eigenes Insulin mehr produzieren könne und ich demzufolge mein Leben lang Insulin spritzen müsse.

Während der Behandlung durch Hugo Nielsen konnte ich auch Auswirkungen auf meinen Diabetes feststellen. Zunächst stabilisierten sich meine Blutzuckerwerte, nur der morgendliche Wert blieb sehr hoch (Dawn-Phänomen). Ab Ende 2007 entgleisten jedoch die Werte dramatisch. Ich stellte unglaubliche und vor allem unerklärbare Schwankungen fest. Auf Anordnung die Diabetologen erhöhte ich die Insulinmenge. Mir wurde zur Insulinpumpe geraten, die ich aber ablehnte.

Ende Juni 2008 stellte ich mich zur ambulanten Behandlung und eventuellen Klärung der Ursachen meiner Probleme mit dem Diabetes im St. Joseph-Stift vor.

Die Feststellung des dortigen Diabetologen – nach Durchsicht meiner Messwerte- lautete: Typ 2 (nicht Typ 1!!) Diabetiker. Die Insulindosis sei zu hoch, ich rutsche vermutlich von einer Unterzuckerung in die nächste, ohne es zu merken!

Meine Bauchspeicheldrüse produzierte noch Insulin.

Seine folgerichtige Empfehlung war, die Insulinmenge zu verringern, dabei aber morgens und abends je eine Tablette Metformin 500 zu nehmen.

Innerhalb von vier Monaten konnte ich die Insulineinheiten von circa 40 pro Tag auf die Hälfte reduzieren. Eine erfreuliches „Nebenbei“ ist eine Gewichtsreduzierung um sechs Kilogramm.

Jetzt, nach fünf Monaten, benötige ich nur noch zehn Einheiten Insulin und zweimal täglich Janumet. Die Blutzuckerwerte stabilisieren sich.

Bei meinem Letzten Besuch stellte mein Arzt fest „Sie werden wohl eine der wenigen Personen sein, denen es gelingt vom Insulin wegzukommen.“ Bei weiterer Verringerung meines Körpergewichts habe ich die Aussicht ganz auf Insulin verzichten zu können. Die Behandlung mit Tabletten wird wohl fortgeführt werden müssen.

Ich hoffe, in einigen Monaten diesem Bericht eine Erfolgsmeldung hinzufügen zu dürfen.

Next week fifty-nine year old Irene Jensen, Koege, Denmark, and her husband go on a trip to the Rhine to celebrate that Irene`s death sentence six months ago has been annulled. It happened when a doctor at the hospital last week told her: ”The tumour is totally gone!”
It was in 2003!

Irene Jensen realized that something was wrong when she in November last year was brushing her teeth. ”I had got too much toothpaste in my mouth and when I started coughing and spitting I saw blood,” she tells.

On November 22nd last year the doctors found out that I had a tumour in my lung which was placed so unfortunately that it was impossible to operate. It was, however, not until the end of January that they found out that it was a type of cancer of which you could die – specially when it was in the lung. I left the hospital without the slightest hope for one doctor said to me: ”I suppose you realize that this is life-threatening?”

When you are told that you have cancer and are sent home to wait before starting at the hospital a lot of thoughts race through your brain such as: Is there anything I can do?
At that time we had just subscribed to the daily newspaper ”Dagbladet” and one evening my husband lay in his bed and read a discussion article about health service that still did not realize what the acupuncturist Hugo Nielsen, Gram, was able to do for a cancer patient.”

”We got in contact with him, and in February we went to the clinic twice a week, and at the same time I started having chemotherapy. It was one of the strongest types and I didn´t get four series like the other patients but six series. Still they all talked a lot about how well I looked and how good a colour I had.

I also surprised the doctors with my weekly blood samples for one week the numbers were down and the next week the were very much up! The doctors didn´t understand it. ”Have you had a blood transfusion?” I was asked on several occasions. ”No, I have had parallel-acupuncture,” I answered.

It was good to meet a positive person
”Maybe my husband and I had a little doubt when we first drove to the clinic but here we met Hugo Nielsen, a positive person, who said that he would certainly try to help med. As an added bonus my husband was treated for his migraine and he has not – touch wood – had new attacks. For both of us it was an great experience when there one day on the coach beside me lay a woman who told us about a friend`s result.

About ten years ago she had had a tumour which the doctors was unable to remove. Then Hugo Nielsen had treated her and she still lived in the best of health. ”Life-threatening” and ”may die” had closed in on us and we really needed to hear something else. Gradually our trips to Gram became a nice picnic for at the clinic something really happened to me!”

Half-way through chemo the tumour had diminished by 50 percent
”The hospital planned that the very strong chemo should shrink the tumour, then
would follow radiation treatment and maybe an operation. In mid-April I was – half-way through the chemotherapy – scanned and to the doctors` surprise the tumour had diminished by 50 percent. That was spectacularly they said and told be to go home and celebrate it with two bottles of champagne.”

”Mid-June the chemotherapy came to an end and a scanning showed a further shrink of the tumour. It was also found that the cancer in some lymph glands was gone.”
”At one time I had a temperature and I was X-rayed to see if I might have a pneumonia. That was not the case but I was on that occasion told that my cancer apparently had disappeared.”

”At a check-up a week ago the doctor had seen my X-ray pictures and she told me that as a matter of fact the tumour was totally gone – with the reservation that I must come for a new check-up and scanning in two months.”

”Next week we shall not drive to the clinic in Gram. In stead we shall celebrate with an eight days trip to the Rhine! That it is parallel-acupuncture I can thank for the new life I have been given my husband and I have no doubt about.”

I had the luck that a toothbrushing revealed a disease which at the time gave me no symptoms, and I had the luck that we just had subscribed to ”Dagbladet” who helped us on the track of Hugo Nielsen. On our trip to the Rhine we shall have in our luggage a special thing – a Cell Com apparatus which treats the body according to the same principles as parallel-acupuncture needles. Two minutes on point 12 and two minutes on point 4 on both feet are all what it takes and that is surmountable.”

I’ve just been checking at the University Hospital in Aarhus fore my goitre. It was attended by both a medical and a surgical Consultant.

And the Surgical Consultant began with an incredible phrase: “I can delight you with that if you accept our offer of operation is goitre declined so much, that you do not need to be cut. We can pry it out now.”

I got a copy of the scan, which was conducted a few weeks before. Struma is exactly right to claim the leg and the left goes on about. 2 ½ cm lower leg.

In January, I was also to control and it was with the same medical Consultant and a second surgeon. I had a list of the dates and centimetres of my goitre had disappeared. At its thickest part the decreased 5 cm. But the doctors wanted to see a scan. They could not deal with a piece of paper. I could tell that I had asked the secretary in advance of the scan, so it was clear in control, but it is only doctors who should get what I was told.

Both doctors were very sweet – they decided to get the scan so quickly, there was space. And it was then that I received the results of day.
I was told by the Surgical Consultant, that nothing exists in the health system; he belongs to may have goitre to shrink. Nevertheless, it was therefore diminished.
I told the doctors that I chose to continue with the parallel acupuncture as goitre may be even smaller. But I’d like a new control on half years.

Doctors had no objection to my decision. They wanted me on top of luck when I went. I think they are very curious to see what happen. Den new date, I have been – it becomes the 9th September 2009. 13.15 a clock.

I simply can not grasp that parallel acupuncture is not a natural part of the health system. There will always be some who will undergo surgery, but there should be an offer so that people can choose.

In connection with an operation, in 5% of cases at risk of damaging the voice bands, so that no sound comes out when you speak. And then I have to go to the speech therapist. It is not very useful when one’s work largely consists in talking with people and give lectures.

So I want to say thanks to Lone and Hugo.
